Gonzaga set to join newly reformed Yugoslavia as 8th nation in 2026
BELGRADE—
A college basketball summer that will be remembered for its drastically changing conference realignment shakeups receives its latest jumble - Gonzaga University is set to join the nation for all sports starting in 2026. While many international relations pundits expressed skepticism of the once-former nation of Yugoslavia joining forces once again, Gonzaga Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mark Few couldn’t have been happier:
“The talent in the Balkans is incredible. Such a rich history here, you know, Luka Doncic, Drazen Petrovic, [Nikola] Jokic…not to mention to economic possibilites.”
Many speculated for years that Gonzaga would be a viable suitor for a mostly all-basketball conference such as The Big East, but historians will now look back on these predictions and realize we weren’t thinking east enough.
“Spokane actually reminds me a lot of an eastern bloc so this makes a lot of sense” said former Bulldog Killian Tillie.
